How to apply for passport Online in Bangalore (Updated)


You can apply online for a fresh passport/reissue of passport through Online Registration. The online appointment system has been introduced by Ministry of External Affairs to ensure avoiding congestion at PSK (Passport Seva Kendras) and cutting down waiting time for applicants. Please follow the following steps to obtain passport in Bangalore.

Step1: First, you need to register in Passport Seva Portal to create your User ID & Password. Click here to Register

Step2: After creating your User ID, please login here using your User ID & Password.

Step 3: If you have never possessed a passport earlier, then you need to select “Apply for Fresh Passport”. In case, if you are re-applying for passport for the reasons like Changes in your particulars /Lost/Validity Expired, you can select “Reissue of Passport “.

Step 4: You have to fill the required details in the form and submit. Particulars which you are providing in the form will be printed in the passport. Therefore, please be careful in filling up the form and avoid any mistakes.

Step 5: After submitting your application form, click on the link "Manage Appointment" at Applicant Home page to book the appointment at PSK (Passport Seva Kendra) as per available slots. In case, if you are not able to get appointment for as per your preferred date, you can revisit the portal to check and take appointment again.

Step 6: You can take printout of Application Reference Number (ARN).

Step 7: You need to visit Passport Seva Kendra where appointment has been taken with Application Reference Number (ARN) and all required documents.

 Required Documents to Submit:
Proof of address (Any one of these - Ration card, Voter ID, Water bill, Electricity bill, Gas connection Bill, Income tax/Bank account Statement)
Proof of Date of Birth (Any one of these - Certificate from any Educational institute,  Birth certificate)
Tariff:
Fresh Passport of 10 years validity
(36 pages): Rs 1,500
(60 pages): Rs. 2,000

Tatkaal Scheme is applicable for persons who need the passport urgently with some extra amount of Rs. 2500(36 Pages) and Rs. 3000 (60 Pages).

Status of passport application:
You can check the status of your application by calling at call centre at 1800-258-1800 or by using the below link. You need to provide your File Number and Date of Birth to check your application status.

Be careful with Agents:

Obtaining a Passport is not down to an agent, but more to do with you AS AN   applicant.  If you have all the valid document proofs, you do not need agent at all and save your money by going through official Passport website (www.passportindia.gov.in).
